It's great to be making comics again! And there's some comics coming that I'm really excited about!
This one comic in particular was something that popped in my head one day and made me giggle. When I was going through cancer treatments, one of the biggest questions I got was whether or not I was going to lose my hair. Going bald is the big cancer stereotype, and not every cancer patient goes bald. I had colorectal cancer, and while some 'colorectals' lose their hair, my form of treatment wouldn't shed any hair except for any on my butt.
And so I felt kind of bad for people who did their best to give me some comfort, and if you deal with cancer (or you used to) you also see how silly people can get around you. So the idea of people shaving their heads before getting all the information first was just to good to pass up on drawing.
I imagine that some people might see my comic as making fun of people trying to do something kind... but if anything, I try to poke fun at the way we all try, and sometimes fail, to show solidarity with those who are suffering.
Solidarity is a good thing, but always make sure you that the person you're trying to help feel better is not yourself. Fit your solidarity to the one suffering, and not the kind of ideal you have in your head.
