Okay, so I admit that this particular comic is pretty emotional for me...and I'm aware that not everybody is going to like it.
But my goal of this comic isn't to win the big debate about whether or not the ACA is a good idea..but rather to illustrate how it feels to watch so many that you love and care about turn their backs on an issue that could very well result in unnecessary thousands of deaths.
And that one of those deaths could be me.
And everyone, from family members to close friends have been silent. It's the most unsettling feeling that I wouldn't wish on anyone. It's like being placed on a crappy life raft in the middle of the ocean...left adrift for whatever while those you love disappear on a ship over the horizon, looking away.
I know many people want the ACA gone, and I respect that...but I would hope that those who know what could be at stake for me would at least agree to fight to see that those with pre-existing conditions are not left adrift.
And you might say, "But Cancer Owl, Trump promised a repeal and replace, and that he wouldn't remove pre-existing conditions!" First, Congress has already voted against it so far 51 to 48.But also, let's say they plan to keep coverage for those with pre-existing conditions. Let's hold them to it!! Let's hold our lawmakers accountable to their promises!
So here's what I'm asking you to do: call your elected officials and tell them that we cannot allow for those with pre-existing conditions to not get coverage.
And here's some GOP officials who are joining this fight, and here's thier names and numbers.
Senator Bob Corker - (202) 224-3344
Senator Lisa Murkowski - (202) 224-6665
Senator Rob Portman - (202) 224-3353

Senator Bill Cassidy - (202) 224-5824
