I have a strong belief that no cancer patient or survivor is better than another, I made this comic. Cancer sucks, at all levels and no matter who you are. But the media and internet doesn't do a great job representing all types of cancer.
Pop culture perpetuates a stereotype of one type of cancer experience, when indeed there are a variety of cancer experiences. Some experiences are much worse than anything Hollywood will display, while others have a experience that wouldn't be seen as "marketable". While many cancer patients lose their hair in treatments, many do not. While cancer patients can indeed die from the disease, many will survive and have to live life post-treatments and all the challenges that brings.
I often see a lot of spotlight and support of cancer patients who fit into that Hollywood stereotype of bald, charismatic and talented in favor of those who live with the disease almost invisibly. One of the most important ways to "fight cancer" is to educate ourselves on those who actually suffer from it, and support everyone who suffers and not just those whose stories are easier to digest.
