It's All You Hear...
You ever buy a new car, and for the next week, all you see is that car?
That's pretty much what it's like after you're diagnosed with cancer.
For most of my life, I was able to keep cancer at such an arm's length, that I could go almost years without even hearing the word. Now the word flies effortlessly off my lips. In the weeks following the news, cancer was freakin' everywhere. Ev-ry-WHERE!! Every movie, every show...talked about cancer. I even had a 10-year old therapy client come to me with a fundraiser packet raising money for cancer patients! I mean, COME ON!
But that's what happens. It's such a weighty reality, and it's near impossible to drive from your mind.
If you've never had cancer, but you have a friend or family member who's just been diagnosed, you bet your ass he/she's thinking about it right now. And possibly, they may really want to chat about it. And yeah, they'll probably talk about more than what you're willing to hear, but that's what we need.
If you've been recently diagnosed, and you'd like to chat for a few minutes about it, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
