Easily one of the hardest parts of cancer treatments is literally losing your mind.
Towards the middle and of my chemotherapy treatments, my concentration began slipping dramatically. I remember one of my therapy clients saying, "Are you okay? You seem really distracted" as I was tracing my finger in a daze on a table while he was speaking.
Luckily for me, my symptoms are very minimal nowadays, but "chemo brain" can be a lot more severe for others. Some have symptoms comparable to Alzheimer's. I had a coworker tell me her mother-in-law forgot how to get home from work.
So what's the message here? I guess it's that cancer treatments involve more than just a fight to survive. There are also consequences you can't see. Give some love to someone going through chemotherapy. And be prepared to repeat yourself more than you like.
