People who've never really had to deal with the experience find it hard to find anything funny about cancer. Many cancer patients, survivors and caregivers, however, often find plenty of funny moments during treatment.
My friend (and fellow therapist) Amy Turman submitted this story. It's such a great snapshot of the hilarious moments that prove that life is a kaleidoscope of experiences that give us joy in the darkest of times.
Here's her original story:
My grandmother had a mastectomy to treat her breast cancer and had gotten a prosthetic for her bra. She was telling my mother and I about it in the kitchen at Thanksgiving shortly after my husband and I had gotten engaged. She said "it feels real. Feel it!" I told her "I don't want to feel it." She kept insisting and we went back and forth a few times; "feel it!" And "I don't want to!" until finally I reached out and touched her fake breast...just in time for my fiancé to walk in to the kitchen. The look on his face!!!
